5 Reasons To Stay Independent

Looking into the careers of many artists that have signed major deals have all demanded more MARKETING & MONEY and why labels are exhausted of going through the process. At the end of the Day- if the leverage is there for someone to make a quick hundred thousand why not???

5. The LongHaul

Some are in the music game short game while others are in it for the long haul and want the MILLIONS. Smaller steps that eventually turn into years of losing money with the illest mcs having them doubt if they built for this music industry to one day getting there break. This smaller step is missed the most bc artists/producers feel they already made it. These smaller steps ensure you get a fan base following in your hood or area so the Long haul is something you must prepare for and it’s a HARD PROCESS..

4. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

So looking at all the artists I worked with over the years MOST DIDNT BELIEVE IN THE PROCESS bc at the end of the day they weren’t ready and they didn’t believe in themselves. The most talented musical artists are not signed to anyone and they have some of the best vocals in the game but they don’t believe and that belief is not there how is a label gonna sign you. So please stay independent if you don’t believe you can do this bc you will be wasting your time.

3. YOUR YOUR OWN BOSS

I’m gonna be real. Getting signed to a big label isn’t really about you..it’s about the music biz & conforming and changing your style to be the best as they call it in the game..and if you don’t like change—then stay independent. Bc the industry will make you change something as simple as a lyric, your style, your weight, the album cover, basically bitching you bc they own you now. In some cases it may be better to be your own Boss.

#2 HARD WORK PAYING OFF

I Look at Third World Don. Third is the one artists that is truely marketable. Not only does he have the look, he has the swag and caught the vibe of the Boss -Rick Ross from MMG-but he has been consistent. Doing shows over here, to popping up in a party w/ TI or hanging Ross or making music with Grammy award Nominator “Kabaka Pyramid” -THE DUDE NEVER STOPS!! So with that type of Grind who needs a label stay independent. Many like Third Can really do it by themselves with no help bc the music is there. And the Music is A-one!!

#1 Develop A Professional Team

So how did Third World Don get here? Third World Don never charted independently without the help of friends, other artists, family and a team members like Beatbopper. Beatbopper 1st listened to Third World Don-and Couldn’t believe what I was hearing stated Michael Hudgins. “I damn near ran to my Benz to really hear the music.” Every song was a hit and still is!! “I spoke with Third World Don and we agreed on putting his music first. And thats what we did started charted him in various means and putting big money Behind radio, blogs, playlist and my Caribbean Network that enabled him to chart. Today, Third World Don can get over 12 plaques especially on ITunes, Amazon and reggae charts and most Currently charting on #4 & #7 on the Reggae Billboard Charts in 2022. So NO-the artists CAN NOT do this by themselves and In order to make the dream work -You MUST have a Team and TEAMWORK. If you have the essentials in the game with a backend programmer, producer, journalists and a Publicist then why sign to a label when you can reap all the benefits yourself and at this point it comes down to management.
